February 6, 2019 Colonia Board of Fire Commissioners Regular Meeting
The Regular meeting of the Colonia Board of Fire Commissioners took place at the Colonia Firehouse on February 6, 7:35 pm. The meeting was called to order by Board President Ray Hughes followed by a moment of silence for departed members.
Notice of the meeting was advertised in the Home News Tribune and the Asbury Park Press and at Town Hall.
Commissioners present: Joe Fugaro Bill Stellmach, Ed Sheehan, Bill Higgins, Ray Hughes
Chief’s Report
The Chief gave the Commissioners the percentages for the month.
This month will be:
CPR
Fit Test
Going to MCFA on February 26 for the Maze
Getting copies of everyone’s driver license
Chief is removing us from the run card to Station 7 for FAST TEAM due to lack of training.
Chief said the computer in 12-31 is not working properly.
Chief is removing the ESCAPE bags from everyone who doesn’t have the proper training.
The Chief asked for 5 personal mini TICs for the officers’ seats.
The Chief had a discussion on training files and is getting new one on disc and getting rid of the VCR tapes.
The Chief is going to get a list of firefighters who might be interested in Swift Water Rescue.

A copy of the full report is located at the Colonia Fire Department. A motion was made and seconded to approve the Treasurer’s report. Motion passed.

Commissioner Hughes is in the process of reviewing all policies and worker compensation.

Commissioner Stellmach will reach out Ed Timms to look at the computer in the Chief’s car 12-31. Commissioner Stellmach talked about the radio meeting with the town on the new radio system they will be getting. There is another meeting scheduled on March 13.

JJ Fugaro is becoming a member.
Trucks and Equipment, Commission Sheehan
All the cleaning is complete.
Mitch is working on some of the equipment.

Old Business
Commissioner Stellmach has 4 prices for the Commissioners to purchase the generator direct from the supplier.
A motion was made and seconded for Commissioner Stellmach to go ahead and purchase the generator after he checks with lowest price to make sure it is what the need. Motion was passed.
New Business
Commissioner Stellmach asked the Chief to do the following things:
Start drill on time and have the officer’s be prepared and if no officers are coming to drill they are to reach out to one of the Ex-Chief’s for help.
Do not allow the officers to come in at the end of drill and sign in. They should lead by example.
Have roll call taken so on one is left out.
Bill Schleck and the Chief are going to put together a proposal for updating the electronics in the training room for next meeting.
There was a discussion on what is expected of the day crew and their accountability or lack of.
Commissioner Sheehan told the Chief that he received complaints from people on the West Side that the firefighters are driving too fast and improper passing.
A motion to adjourn the meeting at 9:20 pm was made and seconded. Motion was passed.
