The Colonia Fire Department is a volunteer organization, which originated in 1943 and now consists of 50 members. The fire department responds to many types of calls for assistance, including, but not limited to; Structure Fires, Vehicle Fires, Fire Alarms, Hazardous Materials Incidents, Motor Vehicle Accidents/Extrication, Carbon Monoxide Detector Alarms, Down Wires and any other response to assist the citizens of Colonia, District 12.
Colonia Fire Department also responds to Special Operations Calls such as; High Angle, Low Angle Rope Rescue, Confined Space Emergencies, Trench Rescue, Vehicle Extrication and Building Collapse/Shoring.
