December 5, 2012 Colonia Board of Fire Commissioners Agenda Meeting

The agenda meeting of the Colonia Board of Fire Commissioners took place at the Colonia Firehouse on December 5, 2012 at 7:47 pm. The meeting was called to order by Board President Ray Hughes followed by a moment of silence for departed members.

Notice of the meeting was advertised in the Home News Tribune and the Asbury Park Press and at Town Hall.

Commissioners present: Ray Hughes, Jim Souza, Ed Sheehan, Bill Higgins, Sr., and Bill Higgins

Also Present: Chief Mackey, L. Higgins (First Aid), Firefighter Giardina, Firefighter Stellmach, Firefighter Caposiena, Firefighter Komoroski, Firefighter Lorenzen G. Reilly (First Aid), E. Mullen

A motion was made by Commissioner Souza to suspend the rules of the meeting for Ed Mullen to over the proposed budget for 2013. Motion passed by unanimous vote.

Ed Mullen read the resolution to be introduced for the 2013 budget. Roll call of all the commissioners was taken and all were present.

The Chief had a suspension issue that was resolved at the Company Meeting.

Motion to adjourn meeting was made by Commissioner Sheehan seconded by Commissioner Higgins, Sr. at 7:59 pm. Motion passed by a unanimous vote.

The regular meeting of the Colonia Board of Fire Commissioners took place at the Colonia Firehouse on December 5, 2012 at 8:00 pm. The meeting was called to order by Board President Ray Hughes followed by a moment of silence for departed members.

Would like to propose going paid seven days a week during the day. They are down to 11 people.

Chief's Report, M. Mackey

Booked FDIC trip. Mike Mackey and Joe Fugaro are going. The cost is $2,300.00

Still waiting for the radio for South Plainfield.

Need four sets of gear and two pairs of pants.

Would like to get leather boots. They cost $75.00 more than the rubber boots. Have a list of the first five guys who want them.

We are low on leather helmets.

Would like to order a new camera and a new meter.

Would like permission to pull guys gear if they don't have six drills in a quarter.

Every driver needs to get re-qualified every year.

Would like the Chief to remind guys about going out on stand by at the next Company meeting. If they don't go we don't do assists.

12-31 and 12-32 lights will be done at the end of the month.

Need to order four basic first aid kits for the cars
A motion to order four new first aid kits was made by Commissioner Souza and seconded by Commissioner Higgins, Jr. Motion passed by a unanimous vote.

Vehicles need to be cleaned out. On 34 he took out three water bottles and a Gatorade bottle.

If guys are not coming to training the Chief can take away their gear.

Trench rescue training – we need to do it or we can not go out on those calls.
