March 1, 2017 Colonia Board of Fire Commissioners Agenda Meeting

The agenda meeting of the Colonia Board of Fire Commissioners took place at the Colonia Firehouse on March 1, 2017 at 7:30 pm. The meeting was called to order by Board President Ray Hughes followed by a moment of silence for departed members.

Notice of the meeting was advertised in the Home news Tribune and the Asbury Park Press and at Town Hall.

Commissioners present: Ray Hughes, Bill Higgins, Jr, Bill Stellmach Ed Sheehan, and Joe Fugaro

Building and Grounds. Commissioner Higgins

A new door opener was put in at Colonia First Aid Squad. Commissioners will get a separate code from the SQAD members.

12-3-2 will have the garage door opener

Elevator lights were put in.

The roofer came back and caulked a couple of areas.

With the heat tape on the roof when it snows it should melt off in a day or two.

Commissioner Stellmach has a meeting set up on Friday with architect on new kitchen and bathroom.

Water and Hydrants. Commissioner Stellmach

We need to ascertain what size hydrant is on Inman Ave. for the new Heritage Development. A flow test will be done by the water company.

Insurance. Commissioner Hughes

Alarms and Radios, Commissioner Stellmach

Commissioner Stellmach got quotes on new radios.


The cost to transfer the radios into the other rigs and have new headset mounted will cost $5,890.00.

Trucks and Equipment, Commissioner Sheehan

The valve was fixed on 12-2. 12-1 is in the process of being set up for service. Brackets will be mounted and shelving put in.

Service on the cars will start in March.

Tabling the bar light on the rescue until the Chief gets a price.

Purchasing. Commissioner Hughes

Commissioner Hughes ordered a couple of adapters do all vehicles have the same. Commissioner Hughes ordered five tools: one for each vehicle.

Old Business

Commissioner Sheehan reported that the Election was completed and everything was approved.

Commissioner Higgins will be reaching out to the floor guy to measure the SQAD.

A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Commissioner Sheehan and seconded by Commissioner Higgins, Jr. at 7:45. Motion passed by a unanimous vote.
