April 2,2014 Colonia Board of Fire Commissioners Regular Meeting

 The regular meeting of the Colonia Board of Fire Commissioners took place at the Colonia Firehouse on April 2, 2014. The meeting was called to order by Board President Ray Hughes followed by a monument of silence for departed members.

Notice of the meeting was advertised in the Home News Tribune and the Asbury Park Press and at Town Hall.

Commissioners present; Jim Souza, Ed Sheehan, Bill Higgins, Sr. Bill Higgins, Jr and Ray Hughes

Communications, Commissioner Sheehan

Commissioner Sheehan received a letter from the Water Company regarding hydrant checks. Colonia Firehouse is on the second part of the list which means it won't be completed until 2015.

EMS, G. Reilly

Would like to get FA-17 in to get the brakes checked. It has never been checked for brakes since they have had it.

Chiefs Report, Chief Stellmach

Commissioners have the percentages.

Township is having a major drill on May 18.

Little League Parade is this Saturday.

We have the list for the guys who need new gear.

Treasurer's Report, Commissioner Souza, Jr.

A motion was made to accept treasurer's report made by Commissioner Sheehan and seconded by Commissioner Higgins, Jr. Motion passed by a unanimous vote.

Buildings and Grounds, Commissioner Higgins, Sr.

Got a price of $3,980.00 to do the stairs in the back. That is to tear it down and put new ones up.

A motion was made to get the work done made by commissioner Sheehan and seconded by Commissioner Higgins, Jr. Motion passed by a unanimous vote.

Water and Hydrants, Commissioner Higgins, Jr.

Commissioner Hughes and I went to the Water Company meeting which they moved to Fords Fire house at the last minute. They were talking about an increase of 18 percent for the homeowners and ours will go up 4 percent.

Alarms and Radios, Commissioner Higgins, Jr.

Just what Commissioner Higgins brought up earlier at the agenda meeting. Also the low band license was up for renewal. Commissioner Higgins called the FCC and explained to them what they were doing now and we don't use the low band anymore. She said there was no sense in filling out the paperwork and renewing it since it won't be needed.

Trucks and Equipment, Commissioner Sheehan

Commissioner Sheehan went over everything during the agenda part of the meeting. We just proceed and get going and get some of this stuff back up. I have some body work that needs to be done on some of the units that I will discuss over the next couple of months.

Purchasing, Commissioner Hughes, Jr.

Commissioner Hughes requested the Chiefs wish list in priority order. The only item the Chief is requesting is to buy everyone the leather boots. Old Business

Commissioner Higgins, Jr. requested a note that states Firefighter Pereira is on light duty.

Floor

Firefighter Giardina gave a grant update.

Motion to adjourn meeting was made by Commissioner Sheehan and seconded by Commissioner Higgins, Jr. Motion passed by a unanimous vote.
