March 5th, 2014 Colonia Board of Fire Commissioners Regular Meeting

 The regular meeting of he Colonia Board of Fire Commissioners took place at the Colonia Firehouse on March 5,2014 at 7:46 pm. The meeting was called to order by Board President Ray Hughes followed by a moment of silence for departed members.

Notice of the meeting was advertised in the Home News Tribune and the Asbury Park Press and at Town Hall.

Commissioners Present: Ray Hughes, Jim Souza, Ed Sheehan Bill Higgins, Sr. and Bill Higgins.

Also Present: Chief Stellmach, Firefighter Pereira, Firefighter Giardina, Firefighter Komoroski, L. Higgins (First Aid), G. Reilly (First Aid) E. Giardina (First Aid)

FA-12 is still out. The heat in the front didn't match he heat in the back.

Jim Banton called to review the changes on the new ambulance.

Commissioner Sheehan would like George to check the registration and insurance cards are up to date for the rigs.

Chiefs Report, W. Stellmach

St. Patrick's Day parade is this Sunday. There is a sign up sheet downstairs.

On March 28,2014 we will be going to the Middlesex County Academy.

We need to set up a meeting to reprogram the radios.

Firefighter Pereira has a list of the five firemen who need gear.

Will be getting all the old gear together that they don't use and will give to Ray and he will go out to bid with it.

A motion to accept treasurer's report was made by Commissioner Sheehan and seconded by Commissioner Higgins, Sr. Motion passed by a unanimous vote.

Back stairs need to be fixed and the old ones need to be chopped up.

Progress - The new sign outside was put on the insurance.

Commissioner Higgins will work with Chief Stellmach on upgrading the computer and phone system.

Trucks and Equipment, Commissioner Sheehan

Commissioner Sheehan opened an account with the car wash on Oak Tree Rd. Will only vechiles there when they get really bad.

New Chief Car - The number not to exceed to get the work done is $10,500.00. A motion to not exceed $10,50.00 to upgrade the new chiefs car was made by Commissioner Souza and seconded by Commissioner Sheehan. Motion passed by a unanimous vote.

A motion to increase the transcriber salary from $15.00 to $17.00 a hour was made by Commissioner Souza and seconded by Commissioner Sheehan. Motion passed by a unanimous vote.

Firefighrer Giardina gave an update on grants.

Motion to adjourn meeting was made by Commissioner Souza and seconded by Commissioner Sheehan at 8:04 pm. Motion passed by a unanimous vote.
