March 1, 2017 Colonia Board of Fire Commissioners Regular Meeting

The regular meeting of the Colonia Board of Fire Commissioners took place at the Colonia Firehouse on March 1, 2017 at 7:45 pm. The meeting was called to order by Board President Ray Hughes followed by a moment of silence for departed members.

Notice of the meeting was advertised in the Home news Tribune and the Asbury Park Press and at Town Hall.

Commissioners present: Ray Hughes, Bill Higgins, Jr, Bill Stellmach Ed Sheehan, and Joe Fugaro

Chief Caposiena for Chief Mackev

Chief asked if he could send guys to get gear. Commissioner Hughes still is waiting to hear back from the guy.

The vinyl cover that was sent out for 12-2-1 was received.

Chiefs office is working on a meeting for pre plan provider to go over new services. Commissioner Hughes needs to have the pre-plans.

Need to go over when fire official needs to be notified in officer's meeting.

Vinny Periera was supposed to attend career day at School #21 on March 10, 2017.

Caposiena needs to get back to them ASAP.

A motion to accept treasurer's report was made by Commissioner Sheehan and seconded by Commissioner Higgins, Jr. Motion passed by unanimous vote.

Alarms and Radios

A motion was made by Commissioner Higgins and seconded by Commissioner Fugaro to buy 7 new radios from Pinnacle. State contract is cost is $28,961.75.

Two guys coming to Company meeting that went through the investigation process.

Trucks and Equipment, Commissioner Sheehan

Need to slow down on guys using the cars during the day doing personal stuff. There has been soda cans left in the cars radio left on loud and gas not filled up. A directive is coming from Commissioners tomorrow night at Company meeting regarding the use of the cars.

Pumpers and engines need to be filled when coming back from calls. They need to be topped off regardless; especially the mutual aid vehicles.

Commissioner said due to an issue with the new doctor a voucher system is now set up with the doctor.

There are only 3 or 4 pagers left that still need to be serviced. Commissioner Hughes wants pagers back from Explorers who do not come around. If after that they still need more they will be ordered.

Commissioner Higgins, Jr. would like to hang up his father's helmet at the Fire House Pub.


A motion was made and seconded to hang up at the Commissioner Higgins, Sr, helmet Fire House Pub. All were in favor.

A motion was made by Commissioner Steilmach and seconded by Commissioner Sheehan to adjourn meeting. Motion passed by a unanimous vote.
