January 4,2017 Colonia Board of Fire Commissioners Regular Meeting

The regular meeting of the Colonia Board of Fire Commissioners took place at the Colonia Firehouse on January 4, 2017 at 7:45 pm. The meeting was called to order by Board President Ray Hughes followed by a moment of silence for departed members.

Notice of the meeting was advertised in the Home news Tribune and the Asbury Park Press and at Town Hall.

Communication/Bills

Progress

Chiefs Report, Mike Mackey

Percentages are in front of you for the last month as well as the calls. Call from last year need to be posed for LOSAP.

Chief Mackey is still waiting on guys for fire gear. Commissioner Hughes is meeting with the rep next week.

February 28 will be the drill on mass destruction.

Doing drivers training with officer's first.

Next year training will be going to academy four times. Will be going with Fords Fire Company each time.

Rescue jack training will be on April 25, 2017.

Chief Mackey asked for approval from the board for the Fire Expo in Nashville for next year. Would like four guys to go covering their flight hotel, exhibit and classes.

Treasurer's Report, Commissioner Higgins

Commissioner Stellmach made a motion to accept the treasurer's report and Commissioner Fugaro seconded. Motion passed by a unanimous vote.


Buildings and Grounds, Commissioner Higgins

A motion to get contract with Clean Air Account to fix hose was made by Commissioner Stellmach and seconded by Commissioner Fugaro. Motion passed by unanimous vote.

Getting one master key for all the locks on the doors in the fire house and first aid squad. The cost is $1,986.00 to do both buildings. All would have one master key and each office would have its own key.

Commissioner Stellmach made the motion to do both buildings with a master key and Commissioner Sheehan seconded it. Motion passed by unanimous vote.

Water and Hydrants, Commissioner Stellmach

Progress

Will get a flow rate of new hydrants at Heritage.

Insurance, Commissioner Hughes

Progress

Personnel, Commissioner Fugaro

Chief has two new guys coming in next week for an initial review.

Trucks/Equipment, Commissioner Sheehan

Progress. Discussed topics at agenda meeting.

Purchasing, Commissioner Hughes, Jr.

Progress. Purchased new fans for 12-1 and 12-2.

Old Business

Commissioner gave the approval for Chief Mackey and three other fire fighters to attend the Expo in Nashville.

Commissioners gave the approval to spend $700.00 for the Rescue Jack training in April.


Chief Mackey - Five firefighters need to take sensitivity training.

Commissioner Sheehan made a motion and seconded by Commissioner Fugaro to hire Justin Halloway as a part-time fire inspector.

A motion to adjourn the meeting at 8:14 pm was made by Commissioner Stellmach and seconded by Commissioner Fugaro. Motion passed by a unanimous vote.
