August 10, 2016 Colonia Board of Fire Commissioners Regular Meeting

The regular meeting of the Colonia Board of Fire Commissioners took place at the Colonia Firehouse on August 10, 2016 at 7:30 pm. The meeting was called to order by Board President Ray Hughes followed by a moment of silence for departed members.

Notice of the meeting was advertised in the Home news Tribune and the Asbury Park Press and at Town Hall.

Commissioners present: Ray Hughes, Bill Higgins, Jr, Bill Stellmach, Ed Sheehan Excused: Jim Souza

Also Present: Chief Mackey, Firefighter Giardina

Chief Mackey

Percentages are down a bit which is normal for the summer time.

Computer screen in lobby and Chiefs room are turning off.

Chief Mackey would like Chandler to talk to Timmes regarding the website. Would like to have more recent information on the website. Commissioners are ok with the above.

Chief Mackey would like to give Mike Novak permission to build a prop for training.

Treasurer's Report, Commissioner Higgins, Jr.

Building and Grounds, Commissioner Higgins, Jr.

Will order two chairs to look at for the hall. Commissioner Sheehan will work with Braslow to get bid specs for the roof.

Commissioner Higgins was given permission to move the thermostat at the First Aid Squad.

Need to put a ductless system in the firemen's room. Commissioner Stellmach will get some prices.

Water/Hydrants, Commissioner Higgins, Jr.

Went over issues at agenda meeting.


Trucks and Equipment, Commissioner Sheehan

Went over everything during agenda meeting. Should be all done before Wildwood.

Old Business

Need to remember that we are going to have to start looking at getting a generator for the Squad.

Trucks and Equipment - Need to start cleaning up vehicles and pumpers for end of the month.

New Business

Still need to look into the floor for the two bays.

Timmmes is going to reprogram the Knox box. Need to discuss who get the code for it. Commissioners need to meet with the Chief to discuss his list of names.

Firefighter Giardina

Gave a grant update. Also gave a flyer that he would like the Commissioners to approve for the Jr. Firemen Academy.

Motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Commissioner Stellmach and seconded by Commissioner Higgins, Jr. at 8:14 pm. Motion passed by a unanimous vote.
