September 3, 2014 Colonia Board of Fire Commissioners Regular Mtg.
The regular meeting of the Colonia Board of Fire Commissioners took place at the Colonia Firehouse on September 3, 2014 at 7:50pm. The meeting was called to order by Board President Ray Hughes followed by a moment of silence for departed members.


Notice of the meeting was advertised in the Home News Tribune and the Asbury
Park Press and at Town Hall.
Commissioners present: Ray Hughes, Jim Souza, Ed Sheehan, Bill Higgins, Sr. and Bill Higgins, Jr.
Also Present: Firefighter Giardina, Chief Stellmach, G. Reilly, (First Aid)


EMS, G. Reilly
Three rigs are running. FA-12- doors and strikers are getting fixed. Radios were installed and moved up into the front console.
FA-17 Mitch working on siren. Still not fixed.
Commissioner Sheehan expressed concern to George about the exhaust issue on the new ambulance. George should tell Ambulance Network we are not happy with them. They should step up and help us with the problem.


Treasurer's Report, Commissioner Souza, Jr.

A motion to accept treasurer's report was made by Commissioner Sheehan and seconded by Commissioner Higgins, Jr. Motion passed by a unanimous vote.

The portables are out and they are trying to get them programmed.


Personnel, Commissioner Souza
There was a discussion on the college grant. You have to be an active member in good standing to be eligible for the grant. It was decided that you can add a spouse or domestic partner if the Company chooses to do so.


Trucks and Equipment, Commissioner Sheehan
Commissioner Sheehan went over all his items in the agenda meeting.
12-2 will be going down to Wildwood on Wednesday.


Purchasing, Commissioner Hughes
Need to check with the Chief with the items on his list.


Chief Report, Chief Stellmach
Chief Stellmach said he had the percentages and year to date. Guys who are close I am telling them to see me so they can make up some drills.
With regards to the day crew we don't have enough guys to go out. The issue needs to be addressed.
A motion was made and accepted for the Commissioners to have a meeting with the Chiefs and junior officers. If they don't step up they are out.


Old Business
Commissioner Souza asked if the attendance at drills were better on Tuesday than Friday. The Chief said it is to new and would have to wait to see any changes.

Firefighter Giardina gave an update on grants.
Motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Commissioner Sheehan and seconded by Commissioner Higgins, Jr. at 8:43 pm. Motion passed by a unanimous vote.
