August 13 2014, Colonia Board of Fire Commissioners Regular Meeting

The regular meeting of the Colonia Board of Fire Commissioners took place at the Colonia Firehouse on August 13,2014 at 7:50pm. The meeting was called to order by Board president Ray Hughes followed by a moment of silence for departed members.


Notice of the meeting was advertised in the Home News Tribune and the Asbury Park
Press at Town Hall.


Commissioners Present: Ray Hughes Jim Souza, Ed Sheehan, Bill Higgins, Sr. and Bill
Higgins, Jr. Chiefs Report Not here.

Looking into two meeting tables that might be missing.
When the radio room is done will need to eventually look into tiling the back wall.

Everything is going well with the radio rom. Waiting on the electrician to finish up. Commissioner Higgins got two prices on the phone system. One was $9,050.00 for
new phones but refurbished phone system. The other company would use everything
brand new.
A motion was made by Commissioner Sheehan and seconded by Commissioner Higgins, Jr. to go with the company that will be using brand new equipment. Motion passed by a unanimous vote.

A motion was made by Commissioner Higgins, Jr. and seconded by Commissioner
Sheehan to approve the Treasurers report. Motion passed by unanimous vote.


Trucks/Equipment, Commissioner Sheehan
Went over everything at agenda meeting. Ambulance is in service.
Commissioner Higgins suggested that Commissioner Sheehan find out what the officers want to do with the trailer.


Purchasing, Commissioner Hughes
Waiting on a call from Iselin 11 on where they get their glasses from.


Old Business
A motion was made by Commissioner Higgins, Jr and seconded by Commissioner Souza to go with the Fiber optics for the Cad Line. Motion passed by a unanimous vote.
Commissioner Souza suggested they look while they are in Wildwood for the convention at the cameras for the vehicles.
Commissioner Souza noted they will need to wait for Firefighter Girdina to discuss the grant issues in further detail.
Commissioner Souza asked the Commissioners if any of them would be interested in going down the League of Municipalities convention in November.
The new truck is done. Commissioners are going down to Florida this Sunday. The old pumper is up for sale.
A motion was made by Commissioner Sheehan and seconded by Commissioner
Higgins, Jr. to donate the old Expedition to Mutual Aid.
A motion to adjourn meeting was made by Commissioner Higgins, Jr. and seconded by
Commissioner Sheehan at 8:24 pm. Motion passed by a unanimous vote.
