April 3, 2013 Colonia Board of Fire Commissioners Agenda Meeting

The agenda meeting of the Colonia Board of Fire Commissioners took place at the Colonia Firehouse on April 3, 2012 at 7:32 pm. The meeting was called to order by Board President Ray Hughes followed by a moment of silence for departed members.

Notice of the meeting was advertised in the Home News Tribune and the Asbury Park Press and at Town Hall.

Commissioners present: Ray Hughes, Bill Higgins, Sr., Bill Higgins, Jr., Jim Souza Eddie Sheehan (absent)

Also Present: Chief Mackey, Firefighter Giardina, G. Reilly (First Aid), L. Higgins, (First Aid), E. Giardina (First Aid), Firefighter Lorenzen, Firefighter Komorowski

Chief Mackey introduced a new fire fighter to the commissioners.

Motion was made by Commissioner Souza to suspend meeting to let Mr. Timmes speak.

Mr. Timmes spoke about with the Commissioners about the possibility of maintaining the website for the Fire Department.

Buildings and Grounds, Commissioner Higgins, Sr.

Sophists should be started this week on the building.

Water and Hydrants, Commissioner Higgins, Jr.

Insurance, Commissioner Hughes

Workers Compensation is due. Ray spoke to Laura Higgins about their numbers.   Fire Company will be $38,000.00 and the SQAD will be at $30,000.00.

Alarms and Radios, Commissioner Higgins, Jr.

There is no need to purchase a radio for South Plainfield since they are now back on our frequency.

Spoke with Stephanie and Tom from Pinnacle. They will be drawing up a proposal for us for the radio room. Wunder is coming in to look at the electric for the room.

Personnel, Commissioner Souza, Jr.

Jimmy gave an update on Eddie Sheehan’s health.

Mike is going to talk tomorrow at the Company meeting if they guys don’t start making the drills he is going to start pulling gear.

Trucks and Equipment, (Commissioner Sheehan was absent)

12-3 had a low battery. Mitch is going to replace batteries in 12-3, 12-2 and the other big vehicles.

Purchasing, Commissioner Hughes

Will bring up to a vote on a camera at regular meeting.

Old Business

Billy will get a hold of Wunder Electric on progress with the SQAD.

Motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Commissioner Higgins, Jr. and seconded by Commissioner Souza at 7:46 pm. Motion passed by a unanimous vote.
