August 10, 2016 Colonia Board of Fire Commissioners Agenda Meeting

The agenda meeting of the Colonia Board of Fire Commissioners took place at the Colonia Firehouse on August 10, 2016 at 7:30 pm. The meeting was called to order by Board President Ray Hughes followed by a moment of silence for departed members.

Notice of the meeting was advertised in the Home news Tribune and the Asbury Park Press and at Town Hall.

Commissioners present: Ray Hughes, Bill Higgins, Jr, Bill Stellmach, Ed Sheehan Excused: Jim Souza

Buildings and Ground, Commissioner Higgins, Jr.

The township came in to talk with us about the roof. They were going to have the company do our roof that did Port Reading's roof. That company came in to high. Braslow will do another resolution so we can go out to bid again in ten days.

Commissioner Higgins had a meeting with George from the First Aid Squad. The thermostat in the small office needs to be moved to the front bedroom. Also need to get covers with lock for the thermostats.

Water and Hydrants, Commissioner Higgins

Spoke with the Water Company regarding the hydrant on Inman for the new Heritage Townhouses.

Alarms and Radios, Commissioner Stellmach

Radios were reprogrammed. There are still problems with the Chiefs car when it goes in the car wash and when it rains water gets in the antenna. They are going to look at it again.

Pinnacle programmed the radios. Computers are working the engines.

Trucks and Equipment, Commissioner Sheehan


Starting to do work on the cars now. Should be wrapped up by Monday or Tuesday of next week.

12-3 all addressed with issues that were brought up at last meeting.

12-1 ready for sales. Getting title this Friday.

Gas has been low on some of the vehicles. Day guys should be checking them.

Purchasing, Commissioner Hughes

Everything is in that was on the list.

Getting prices on gear for explorers and drivers.

Old Business

Went over the style and prices of chairs for the hall. Looking at spending about $20.00 a chair. Commissioner Higgins will purchase two chairs to look at as examples. Will get vinyl and cloth to compare.

Commissioner Sheehan will meet regarding the prints for the kitchen after the roof is underway.

The account is approved and set up for the bunker gear. We can start to send it out to get it repaired.

New Business

Water Company sent a new service for underground water line on Beekman Ave. No service is needed.

Need to start laying out the big projects before the 75th Anniversary.

Motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Commissioner Higgins and seconded by Commissioner Sheehan at 7:48pm. Motion passed by unanimous vote.
